How to de-stress while planning your wedding.
Planning a wedding or elopement can feel overwhelming at times, and it's good to remember to find ways to de-stress and relax. While some couples hire wedding planners to help with the planning process, it can still feel like there’s a million little details that need to be done. Here are a few different ways to help de-stress during this exciting and overwhelming time!
Delegate tasks, and be vocal about your feelings with loved ones.
It’s ok to ask for help or vent about what’s bothering you during the planning process. Sometimes it feels like it’s easier to bottle up and put on a face for others but let’s be honest with ourselves-planning a wedding or elopement is not an easy task! Your loved ones will try and help you with anything to help make your life easier and breathable. Be sure to not be afraid to delegate tasks!
Exercise.
Finding a type of exercise that suits your schedule and personality will help tremendously with stress. If there’s anyone in your life that exercises regularly, see if you can buddy up a few times a week for motivation. Whether it’s hiking in nature or taking a yoga class, exercise is good for the mind, body, and soul.
Take breaks, set a spa date and dedicate time to yourself.
Be sure to set time aside where you focus on you! It could be a set day or several days during the week where talk of the wedding is minimal if anything at all. Be sure to fill these days off with things you love. It could be pampering yourself at a spa, taking a yoga class, or relaxing at home with a nice dinner with your significant other. However you decide to spend your time, be sure it is used to de-stress yourself!
Learn a new skill or take a class.
Planning a wedding or not planning a wedding, learning a new skill is always great for people to keep the inspiration fresh and mind at ease. Ever wanted to learn macrame? Or check out your local bars for a paint and wine night that have become increasingly popular over the years. For those who are foodies, taking a cooking class is always a great way to de-stress and keep your taste buds stimulated at the same time.
Hire a wedding planner or expand your vendor team.
Sometimes it feels like ‘oh, i got this’ while planning a wedding or elopement. There’s a lot of work that goes into it. So unless you have superpowers and can totally handle it alone, I’d recommend hiring a wedding planner, even if it’s day-of-coordinator to help make sure your day runs smoothly. Even if you're mid-way through your planning process, you can still hire a wedding planner. As for your Vendor Team, make sure you hire those you feel good about and trust. Do bring on more vendors if it helps ease your mind for the big day.
Use Online Programs to Help Stay Organized
There are many different wedding-planning websites that will help you stay organized throughout this process. Whether it’s building a website, planning your wedding on your own or helping pick out colors, these reputable companies are known and recommended by the most trustable wedding information sites like the knot, wedding wire and brides.com. For couples who don’t know where to start, weddingwire.com is great for guiding a way. If you’re looking to build a website and registry, be sure to check out ZOLA and Riley & Grey. For your budgeting needs for the wedding be sure to check out mint.com. Want to plan the wedding without a wedding planner? Apps such as WeddingHappy will help you along the way. Last but not least, Pantone Studio will help you with any color-coordination needs.
Meditate.
Although this might seem like an obvious key to help de-stress, it can be harder to commit to meditating when everything around you feels like a whirlwind. While some people practice breathing exercises and yoga for meditation, there are also apps that help with meditation such as Calm, Headspace, and Breethe.
